Metal Discovery Tour Podcast
Welcome to the Galvanize Metal Discovery Tour Podcast'!
Sponsored & Produced by Silverworks - www.silverworks.com
For this audio tour, Nicola Barranger will be taking you from Sheffield's newly developed railway station right up into the heart of the City Centre, which over the past ten years, has undergone major regeneration with investment in new cultural, retail and business facilities . The route you will take is one of the largest public space renewal programmes in the country, involving the work of large teams of designers, technical specialists, craftspeople and artists Brian Asquith, Chris Knight, Brett Payne, Keith Tyssen and Colin Rose. The aim has been to bring together the highest standards of landscape and engineering design with the creative input of people working in the visual and applied arts to make something distinctive for the city: something to celebrate Sheffield's long tradition of high quality metal craftsmanship and precision engineering.
Sheffield is a city built on a rich heritage of skills which led to the development of a vibrant metal industry. Galvanize Sheffield is a celebration of contemporary metal design and innovation which is still prevalent in the city's cultural and economic growth. This podcast tour has been designed to lead you though the streets of Sheffield and give a little insight into the metal creations which underline this creative relationship.
