Pewter is an alloy of over 91.5% tin, the fourth most valuable metal in common use. It was introduced by the Romans to Britain in 2nd century AD and its manufacture in Sheffield dates from 1769 when James Vickers combined a new alloy mix to the centuries old metal working skills found in the town. These traditional skills, and the same alloy, are used by Wentworths today to produce a range of products to the highest quality.
