A Kaleidoscope of Christmas Colour and New displays takes shape at Chatsworth
A spectacular kaleidoscope built round an historic crystal, fabulous contemporary silver, vivid colours and even live animals, are bringing magic to Chatsworth this winter. The home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire is dressed for Christmas and open to Christmas visitors every day from 3 November to 23 December inclusive.
The Duke says, ‘All of us who are lucky enough to live and work here are always delighted to share Chatsworth with visitors at this festive time of year. We always try to make Chatsworth relaxing and fun, for adults and children alike, so that everyone feels welcome to explore all that this beautiful place has to offer. We are also particualryl thrilled to be displaying contemporary silver, lent to Chatsworth as part of Sheffield's first Galvanize festival.'
Twelve spaces in the house are open, specially lit and dressed with vivid seasonal colours and decorations 'with a twist'. The sparkle of candles, the red decorations of our huge, traditional Christmas tree, magnificent displays of modern silver as part of Sheffield's first ‘Galvanize' festival, and even real parrots, rabbits and doves, all combine to make an unforgettable and magical experience in the historic rooms. The rich displays of colour culminate in an enormous crystal at the heart of a giant Kaleidoscope.
The farmyard and adventure playground has daily craft activities, exciting entertainment every weekend and nativity performances on December weekends. Wonderful home made food and elegant Christmas shopping will enhance everything that visitors can see. Each weekend the stable yard is brought to life with live music from the best regional choirs and bands.
COLLABORATION WITH THE GALVANIZE FESTIVAL
