Julia Keyte trained first as a jeweller at Edinburgh College of Art, Scotland (1998), and later as a product designer at the Sandberg Institute Amsterdam (2003).  She divides her time between designing and making thought-provoking jewellery and domestic products, writing, and teaching.  In 2007 her activities included: participating in internationally renowned jewellery exhibition 'Schmuck', in Munich; joint curation of exhibition 'In Their Own Words', Sheffield and Manchester; and delivering a research paper at the European Academy for Design conference in Izmir, Turkey.  She is senior lecturer in Metalwork and Jewellery at Sheffield Hallam University.
